Terracotta brick fragment (6 x 3 x 2”),, undated
Scope and Content
This series documents the existence of historic buildings and places at the university through plaques, markers and building materials. The series is composed of 40 items. The bulk of the materials in this series are plaques honoring donors who funded the building of the Orradre Library built in 1964.
Several examples of plaques and markers that were used to designate the location of historic sites such as the third site of Mission Santa Clara and a tree planted by Fr. Magin Catala, O.F.M, can be found in this series. There is also a quantity of materials that were used to build Varsi Auditorium (also known as ‘The Ship’) and one or more iterations of the mission church. These include floor tiles, roof tiles, bricks and nails.
