Historical Sketch
The Catholic Women’s Network (CWN) was a non-profit educational organization for women’s spirituality and personal growth located in the Bay Area. In 1988 Arlene Goetze, a graduate of Santa Clara University’s Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries, founded CWN after sponsoring a breakfast and dinner for women in the Diocese of San Jose. As a journalist, Arlene began writing up those meetings in a newspaper format. This bi-monthly newspaper for 10,000 was free in parishes and libraries and by subscription to most every state. Content included articles, original cartoons, and photographic reflections contributed by readers on topics such as wisdom, feminine spirituality, water, silence, sacred space, music, and more. The Catholic Women’s Network closed in 2005.
