Scope and Content

From the Series:

This series consists of various personal materials, photographs, and ephemera of Fr. Markey, including letters written by Markey to his mother, letters written to Markey, a bound notebook, an ivory cincture, a pair of spectacles, souvenirs from South America, an engraved pocket watch, and a small sewing kit. The photographs are primarily black and white and include Markey and his mother, among other individuals. In addition, this series contains a framed, photographed portrait of a young, perhaps teenage, Father Markey. An official photograph of a dinner hosted by the U.S. Army Catholic Chaplains’ Association for His Excellency Bishop John F. O’Hara, at the Hotel Commodore on May 21, 1940, is also included (Father Markey is pictured in the front row, left of center).
