This series documents the photographs that Fr. Spearman collected throughout his life. It includes photographs of his family, friends and associates within the Jesuit order. The bulk of the series consists of photographs Fr. Spearman collected during his tenure as University Archivist, which document the range of research topics that he was interested in. The majority of photos in this series are black and white, however there are some color photos from his later years.

This series is arranged into the following eight sub-series: Sub-Series A. Personal and Family Photographs, Sub-Series B. Mission Photographs, Sub-Series C. Local and California History, Sub-Series D. Jesuits and Other Religious, Sub-Series E. Native Americans, Sub-Series F. Miscellaneous, Sub-Series G. Slides and Negatives, and Sub-Series H. Photograph Albums.
