Each folder contains one poem, and includes typescripts (dated and undated), and in some cases multiple versions of a poem (dated and undated). Some folders include handwritten manuscript versions, usually untitled. Early typescripts are often untitled as well as undated. When the author has changed the title of a poem, it is typically filed alphabetically according to the latter version. Square brackets indicate an early title of a poem. Some poems have more than one date, for example, when the author has made a revision that seemed to warrant a later revision date. Where the author submitted poetry for publication, they have included correspondence with publishers, and in many cases detailed documentation of when a poem was sent, to which publication, and if/when it was returned by the publisher, as well as the publication in which it appeared.
