Scope and Content of the Collection Father Walsh became the “War President” at Santa Clara: he was given the task of trying to accommodate Santa Clara to the loss of more than 1/5th of its normal enrollment. During his administration an accelerated program of study was created in order to allow students to graduate in three years and intercollegiate athletic competition was cancelled. Scope and Content of the Collection Fr. Hauck's administration was a time of quiet transition from post-War rebuilding to the dramatic changes of the 1960's. During Fr. Hauck's seven years as president Santa Clara was forced to withdraw from intercollegiate football, the University was accredited by the Western College Association, efforts were begun to reestablish graduate studies, the University became affiliated with Alma College, tuition was increased, and property was purchased that included the Eberhard Tanning Company....
